Our Life Without Barriers’ Settlement Services deliver a holistic and culturally sensitive service to unaccompanied humanitarian minors.
Available in Western Australia, our Settlement Services aim to reduce stress associated with settling in Australia.
Our model of support includes accommodation, individual planning and case coordination and programs to promote independence and community involvement.
We offer supported accommodation which is flexible, culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of refugees and asylum seekers.
For young people who are transitioning to a more independent lifestyle, we offer an inclusive and culturally relevant approach to strengthening and preserving their sense of self and identity, while promoting active citizenship and participation in the community.
We draw on community members and organisations to provide training in life and work skills for our young people and encourage their contribution with local festivals, events and sporting activities. We broker pathways to education, employment, social inclusion activities and citizenship programs that ensure the people we support are connected in the community by the time they leave our care.
Along with recruiting staff from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, we ensure the people we support in our Settlement Service programs have access to Cultural Liaison Officers to assist us to respond to cultural needs and develop ethno-specific community networks.
