Entry-level home support for people who need some support to stay independent at home.

What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?

If you’re living at home and need a little support, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) can help you remain independent and live life as you like it.

CHSP provides entry-level home support for older people who need some support to stay living well at home and in the community. These services can be accessed on a short-term, intermittent, or ongoing basis.

Whether that’s help with the cleaning or around the home, support in getting the shopping done, or transport to medical appointments, we’ll work with you so you can continue to do all the things you love, while we support you where it matters most to you.

We take a wellness approach to your support. This means we’ll work with you so you can keep doing all the things you enjoy and are able to do, so you can maintain your independence. In times of need, we’re here to support you to build your strength and ability to do everyday tasks for yourself again.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible for the CHSP if you are aged 65 years and older (or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and need a small amount of help in the home. To check your eligibility, visit My Aged Care.

What does CHSP include?

CHSP provides a range of services to help you manage your day-to-day activities. Services can vary across different locations. Give us a call to find out the services available in your area.

Services include:

  • Domestic support

Support with cleaning and household tasks.

  • Personal care

Help with showering, medication, and meal preparation.

  • Home maintenance

Help with the garden and other household maintenance.

  • Transport

Providing transport to appointments and activities.

  • Social support

Supporting you to maintain social connections.

  • Respite

Care for you while your carer has a break.

The CHSP support we offer does not extend to clinical care or access to coordinated health practitioner and allied health support. Home Care Packages (HCP) offer ongoing support for those with more complex care needs.

How does it work?

To check your eligibility to support through the Commonwealth Home Support Package:

Step 1

Contact the Australian Government’s MyAgedCare to check your eligibility and organise an assessment.

Step 2

They’ll assess your needs and determine the support you need and the services you’re eligible for.

Step 3

You’ll receive a letter with the outcome of your assessment. This will include your unique referral codes you’ll need to share with us.

Step 4

Call our friendly team on 1800 792 359 to check CHSP availability in your area.

What will I pay?

You will pay a small amount towards the cost of your services. The Australian Government provides a subsidy directly to us so we can keep the fees we charge affordable. View the  CHSP client contribution schedule of fees
