This home offers shared independent living with active overnight support. We are seeking an outgoing and active male tenant who enjoys living independently with support available. The ideal housemate will appreciate a mix of social and independent activities, get along well with the current resident, and respect personal boundaries.

One long-term male resident aged in his late 30’s.

Interests: The current resident is funded at a 1:3 ratio and is looking for a housemate. He would like to share with someone who has similar interests and has their own Community funding, allowing them to be out and about during the day. This arrangement would give both housemates some time apart during the day and time together in the evenings, supported by sleepover staff.

His interests include gardening and keeping the lawns mowed, attending old car rallies and going to the Speedway on weekends, fishing and camping, playing tennis occasionally, and playing video games.

Location information

Perfectly positioned in Wilsonton Heights, within moments to local shopping precincts, cafes, public transport, St Andrews and Bailie Henderson Hospitals, and cafes.

Accessibility

This property is not fully accessible and is not suitable for individuals with mobility concerns. There are stairs leading from the backyard into the house.

Current support model

This home is staffed 7 days a week with an active overnight (sleepover) support model.

The SIL support team is trained and experienced to support people to live the life they want and make community connections.

All staff have current First Aid and medication training.

Regular household safety checks are conducted.

Factors to consider when applying

Life Without Barriers will conduct a screening and suitability assessment to ensure housemates are compatible.

  • You are aged 18 years or over.

  • You are eligible for, and able to secure, an appropriate level of NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) funding.

  • New resident needs to have at least 1:2 funding and be eligible for department of housing property.

  • New resident needs to have Community access funding or a day program that they attend if possible.

  • You have the financial means to pay rent and utilities and are prepared to sign (or for a representative to sign) a service and accommodation agreement.
