Cultural respect
Cultural respect is
- Shared respect
- Achieved through providing a safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, where cultural differences are respected
- Services that do not compromise the cultural rights, practices, values and expectations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Upholding the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to maintain, protect and develop their culture, whilst supporting the safety, well-being and life opportunities of children
It is critical that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children know, value and feel pride in their culture.
