The Life Without Barriers Board welcomes Karen Knight, Cathy Taylor and Shannon Tobolov as the newest appointments to the organisation’s Board. The appointments bring invaluable experience to Life Without Barriers across the Disability, Child Youth and Family as well as in the digital transformation sectors.
Karen Knight
As a registered psychologist and experienced executive and non-executive director, Karen Knight joins the Life Without Barriers Board with a wealth of experience in mental health and disability services.
Karen’s lived experience and passion for eliminating barriers to education and employment aligns with Life Without Barriers commitments within our Access Inclusion and Employment Plan, outlining our target to have 15% of our workforce openly identify as living with a disability. Karen has a Master of Business Administration, a Masters in Educational Psychology, and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Queensland.
Cathy Taylor
Cathy is a respected and highly skilled senior executive with decades of experience leading support services in the child, youth and family sector. Cathy has a strong focus on improving the lives of children, young people and families and is committed to elevating policy and societal change in the areas of domestic and family and sexual violence, disability, racism and gender. As the former CEO of SA Child Protection, we look forward to Cathy’s leadership to support Life Without Barriers to extend the support we provide to children and families and radically improve outcomes for future generations. Cathy has undergraduate qualifications in law and postgraduate qualifications in law and public administration. In 2021, Cathy was appointed as Adjunct Industry Professor with the University of South Australia, Australian Centre for Child Protection.
Shannon Tobolov
With significant expertise in digital transformation, Shannon Tobolov brings an additional skill set to the board with her experience in the information, communication and technology sector. Shannon has built a strong reputation for effectively leading complex digital reform and brings an extensive career in international markets and sectors and within Australia. Shannon joins with Life Without Barriers in a shared passion for value-based services, customer-centric design and delivering outcomes. Shannon’s curiosity and innovative mindset will be an asset to our board as our organisation looks toward the role of digital transformation in nation-leading solutions across our service delivery. Shannon holds a Bachelor of Rehabilitation Sciences (Occupational Therapy)and a Master of Business Administration (Strategy).
Karen, Cathy and Shannon join our existing non-executive directors and will serve as outstanding assets to the Board as we collectively advocate for quality service delivery and community inclusion. The organisation welcomes their passion, commitment and expertise in partnering with the people we serve to change lives for the better.
