Major community services organisation Life Without Barriers has welcomed new Ministry as part of Scott Morrison’s government.
“We welcome the historic appointment of the first NDIS Minister in Stuart Robert, as well as the first Charities Minister in Senator Zed Seselja. We also heartily congratulate Ken Wyatt, our nation’s first Aboriginal Minister for Indigenous Affairs and the first Aboriginal Cabinet Minister,” Life Without Barriers Chief Executive Claire Robbs said.
Ms Robbs said that having a dedicated NDIS minister will mean that the NDIS remains front and centre of the government’s service delivery agenda.
“We know that Prime Minister Morrison is a keen supporter of the NDIS and we found the Coalition Government open to working in partnership with service providers such as ourselves to improve the scheme.
“We are confident this working relationship will continue with Minister Robert. As the NDIS is a completely unprecedented and intricate program, having a dedicated minister will ensure that any implementation issues can be quickly addressed.”
“We also welcome the significant appointment of Ken Wyatt as Indigenous Affairs Minister. We wish him well in this position as we all work towards ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to the same opportunities as all Australians.”
Ms Robbs has joined the community services sector in welcoming Senator Zed Seselja as Assistant Minister for Finance, Charities and Electoral Matters.
“Not for profit and charity organisations contribute so much to our communities in terms of service delivery and employment. We are pleased our role has been recognised and that with a Charities Minister organisations large and small will have a clear line of engagement with the Government.”
Ms Robbs also congratulated Anne Ruston, the new Minister for Families and Social Services; Michelle
Landry, the new Assistant Minister for Children and Families and Luke Howarth, Assistant Minister for Community Housing, Homelessness and Community Services.
“We look forward to working with all members of the Morrison Government.”
