Variety WA and Revolutions Geraldton Bike Shop team up with Life Without Barriers to bring 25 new bicycles to children and young people.
In a collaborative effort to support children in out-of-home care (OOHC), a community partnership has successfully delivered 25 new bicycles!
Danica Clow, Child and Family Practitioner at Life Without Barriers, applied for funding through Variety WA to purchase bicycles to provide children with a means of transportation, recreation, and a sense of independence. The application was successful, and so began a collaboration between Life Without Barriers, Variety WA, and Revolutions Geraldton Bike Shop.
"This initiative is a great example of how community partnerships can create positive outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care," said Danica Clow.
"It’s rewarding to see the impact that these bicycles have, from offering kids more mobility to encouraging outdoor activity and recreation."

This is the second joint initiative between Life Without Barriers, Variety WA, and Revolutions Geraldton Bike Shop, who have previously teamed up to deliver community projects benefiting children and young people.
"Variety WA had the pleasure of assisting Life Without Barriers Geraldton by providing a grant for bicycles for the children within their out-of-home program," said Jan from Variety WA.
"Revolutions Geraldton provided the bikes that will be used for physical activity to reduce stress, improve mental wellbeing and social interaction, and develop independent growth for children within the program."

The project was a welcome challenge for Paul at the bike shop, who managed to source 25 bikes and build them before Christmas.
"Revolutions Geraldton are a family-owned business servicing the region for over 40 years. It was a privilege to work with both Life Without Barriers and Variety WA to deliver this project to children in need," said Paul.
Paul is passionate about the partnership, it was a challenge he was more than happy to take on.
