Life Without Barriers has expanded home care services in Newcastle and the Hunter region to meet growing demand from locals looking for high-quality, personalised care delivered in the comfort of their own home.
Amanda Glanville, Life Without Barriers' Care Manager for the Hunter region, says there is a rising trend towards older Australians looking for tailored care services that support them to stay living at home for longer.
"More and more older Australians want to continue to want to maintain their independence and lifestyle at home, while staying connected and engaged with their local communities," said Amanda.
"At Life Without Barriers, our purpose is to change lives for the better and support people to live a life free of barriers."
"We build relationships with the people we support by listening to what's important to them and tailoring care services to suit their needs and preferences."
"As a nationwide not-for-profit provider, made up of smaller local care teams, we understand that every person we support is unique and design our care to meet these unique needs."
"For home care services, this means we take care of the things that are becoming more challenging, while providing the support that empowers them to continue doing the activities they love."
Amanda shared that the start of a new year is often when older people and their families start to explore available support options, but it can be difficult to know where to start.
"Receiving aged care services can be daunting for many families, and we're here to make it as easy as possible for you to get the support you need at home."
"My advice to families starting to think about aged care is that it's never too early to start the conversation."
"Many of the older people we support start off by accessing cleaning, transport, or gardening, and then move up to higher-level services when they need them."
No matter where you are on your journey Amanda says, whether you're just getting started or further along in the process, the team at Life Without Barriers is here to help.
"We can support them every step of the way."

Where does Life Without Barriers provide Aged Care services?
Right across Australia! From big cities to smaller towns.
What Aged Care support does Life Without Barriers provide?
The aged care system can be a bit tricky to navigate, but we’re here to help you every step of the way. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been approved to receive government-funded aged care services and looking for a provider, we can help.
Am I eligible for Aged Care services?
To be eligible for government-funded aged care services you need to be 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). Other eligibility factors are based on your health, how you’re managing at home, and any support you currently receive. These areas are explored in your assessment.
Will I receive care straight away?
You may not receive care straight away, as you may be put on a waiting list with My Aged Care. The length you’ll wait for care will depend on the funding you are approved for. Once you’re assessed and approved, My Aged Care will keep you updated on availability.
What do I need to pay?
What you need to pay varies from person to person. For some aged care services, you may need to complete an income or means (income and assets) assessment. For others, you will need to pay a contribution for each service.
