"Living here has been wonderful." - Tulio.

In a cosy house in the suburb of Hadfield, Victoria, four residents enjoy an independent lifestyle and choose Life Without Barriers' disability services. Each resident, with their unique personality and story, makes this house a special place to live.

Today, we introduce you to Gary, Brendan, Tulio, and Mark.

Meet Gary

"I've been here for 12 years, and I love it. On sunny days, I drive to the airport to watch planes take off. It's my favourite thing to do," said Gary.

"When I'm not outdoors, I enjoy watching my favourite TV shows in my room and solving puzzles with the support staff."

Meet Brendan

"I've lived here for seven years and there's always something to do. I love going bike riding, watching movies, and visiting the zoo," shared Brendan.

Brendan is always ready to chat about his various passions, whether that is music, movies, footy, or wool!

"I really enjoy going to my knitting group on Fridays," Brendan said.

"Weekends are for family visits and cheering on the Bombers.”

Meet Tulio

"I've been part of this home for four years. Living here has been wonderful," said Tulio.

Tulio is known for his impeccable manners and polite nature. He likes to relax in his room in the afternoons, and help with household duties.

"I enjoy going to church and I'm really interested in electronics and Rolex watches which I like collecting. Sundays are special because I visit my mum after church."

Meet Mark

"I've lived here for 13 years. I enjoy taking walks around the backyard and relaxing in the garden with my brother when he comes to visit on Saturdays," shared Mark.

"I love watching cooking shows on TV, and helping prepare meals with the support staff in the afternoon."

"I also enjoy my alone time in my room and participating in daily exercise routines with support. I love coffee and enjoy visiting local cafes close by."

This house is more than just a place to live; it's a home built on respect, independence, and friendship.

Residents gather for tea parties, celebrations, and shared meals and their rooms are decorated to reflect their different personalities.

Regular meetings are held to discuss chores, rules, and menus, ensuring everyone has a say. Staff are always available to help and support residents to make their own choices.

"We make and follow our own house rules, aiming to be independent in our daily lives. We value privacy but also enjoy socialising and having fun together," said the Hadfield residents.

Searching for an ideal housemate

Gary, Brendan, Tulio, and Mark are seeking a new housemate to join their vibrant household.

"We're looking for someone respectful, sociable, kind, and caring. They should understand house rules, value privacy, and help keep the home clean," said the residents.

Finding someone with a friendly nature and an interest in joining group activities is important to the housemates.
