Kelsey, a vibrant 32-year-old woman, brings light and laughter to her home in Lavington, where she lives independently with Life Without Barriers' supports. Kelsey shares her home with two other housemates and has unique ways of communicating and connecting with those around her.

Kelsey does not communicate verbally, but her radiant smile and contagious laugh speak volumes. She has mastered different forms of communication, allowing her to express her needs and preferences.

Whether it’s signalling for her favourite music or indicating she wants a snack, Kelsey makes sure she is heard.

One of Kelsey’s favourite activities is spending time in her swing, a sensory tool that brings her immense joy. She often pairs this with watching her favourite movies including Matilda, The Greatest Showman, or How to Train Your Dragon.

What truly brightens Kelsey’s day is music. Her love for music is unmatched; it’s her primary sensory tool, and she listens to a wide range of songs throughout the day. The people who support Kelsey in her Lavington home know to keep her iPod charged and change songs as she wants.

Kelsey thrives on routine, and her support staff work diligently to ensure her daily schedule is followed. When everything is in place, Kelsey is at her happiest, enjoying the structure and predictability that makes her feel secure and content.

Kelsey’s week isn’t complete without her community outings, which she eagerly anticipates. Whether it’s a drive through the local countryside with music playing or a walk around the neighbourhood, Kelsey is always ready for an adventure.

With her easy-going nature and ability to light up any room, Kelsey is truly a ray of sunshine in her Lavington home.
