Life Without Barriers has now been declared as a participating Institution by the National Redress Scheme.
The National Redress Scheme provides acknowledgement and support to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse. It was created in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, which estimated that 60,000 people experienced institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.
In 2019, the Life Without Barriers Board declared its intention to opt into the National Redress Scheme. Following a comprehensive application and assessment process, the organisation is now officially part of the Scheme.
Life Without Barriers’ participation in the Scheme recognises the devastating lifelong impacts of child sexual abuse, as well as our commitment to acknowledging and supporting individuals who have experienced child sexual abuse.
Life Without Barriers has an unwavering commitment to the safety and protection of children. As an organisation that works with children in out-of-home care, we know it is our responsibility to keep children and young people safe from harm and abuse.
