A huge thank you to everyone who stopped in at our Pride Without Barriers market stall at Brisbane Pride’s Market Day!
Brisbane Pride Festival Fair Day at New Farm Park is Queensland's largest LGBTQIA+ Festival that brings together all of the fabulousness that our communities have to offer, increasing Visibility, Equality and Resilience in LGBTQIA+ communities and people.
The New Farm Park transforms into an energetic and fun filled loud and proud playground, complete with live performances, exciting and enticing stalls and delicious street food. Life Without Barriers was one of these stalls!

We asked our Pride Without Barriers* staff and foster carers from the LGBTQIA+ community to march with us at the Brisbane Pride Rally and March on the weekend and the turnout was amazing.
Starting at the Brunswick Street Mall and ending at the Fair Day at New Farm Park, we had a group of 10 people take Life Without Barriers to the streets! In true Queensland style, it was hot but a fabulous day!
We had a strong and happy group marching proudly with our banner before heading to our booth to chat all things Foster Care.
Cass, Carer Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator from North Coast and Tammy, Carer Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator from Brisbane managed the stall.
"Our day was spent chatting to people who wanted to know about foster care, many commented that ‘they had always thought about foster care’ but weren’t sure where to start."
"Lucky for us, we had one of our fabulous carers Chris in attendance, who was able to share their personal story of the foster care journey."
"The energy around the stall was incredible – with smiles, rainbows and sparkles everywhere!" Said Cass.
As well as sharing advice, we also shared some face paint!
"Our face painter was a hit – with children (and adults!) lining up to have some wearable art!" Said Cass.
Carly, Marketing and Communications Officer, joined Life Without Barriers this year, and loved the experience.
"This was my first year marching at Brisbane’s Pride. It was hot, but so much fun! We had a great group of staff and carers march for Pride Without Barriers. We are already planning next year’s march – it will be even bigger and better next year."
What is Pride Without Barriers?
Pride Without Barriers serves as an internal network and resource for LGBTQIA+ employees and their allies at Life Without Barriers. Our goal is to create a great place to work for everyone by embracing the individual skills, perspectives, and experiences our people bring to the workplace. Our purpose is to support full participation at work for LGBTQIA+ employees and foster a strong sense of belonging.
We absolutely love our carers and encourage anyone from the LGBTQIA+ community to get in contact if they have the ability to care for a child or teenager. We offer ongoing support, and you would join our growing network of LGBTQIA+ carers.
