We, the Board of Life Without Barriers, affirm our support for a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament. We believe we have arrived at a crucial time in Australia where by acknowledging our past, we can secure a united future which recognises and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Referendum requires us simply to vote from the heart.
It is necessary for our country to face the reality of worsening targets in Closing the Gap, a trajectory we can change through self-determination. The invitation from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is generous and inclusive.
We are being asked to recognise thousands of years of culture and to acknowledge that centuries of Government policies have not worked to protect, support and enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be self-determining.
We believe it is time for change, the status quo does not serve any of us in a united country.
