"I feel listened to and supported when I need it most." - Steven.

Steven, Glenn, and Julian, are three happy-go-lucky men in their 50s who are excited to welcome a new housemate into their home. The three men enjoy an independent lifestyle and being out and about in their local community and choose Life Without Barriers' Supported Independent Living services.

Learn a little about each of the three men below.

Meet Steven

Steven loves gardening, holding house meetings, and spending time with his family who visit him often. His room is cosy and filled with personal touches.

"Having an ensuite and personal space makes my home special," Steven shared.

"I feel listened to and supported when I need it most, and I am a loyal friend to my housemates."

Steven enjoys visiting his girlfriend, attending church, and being part of the local fire brigade. He likes taking the train, dining at local restaurants, and going to markets, cultural events, and festivals.

Steven is looking for a new housemate who is chatty, has a sense of humour, respects his space, and enjoys footy and cricket!

Meet Glenn

Glenn values his own space and having a say in household decisions, including meal planning. He also enjoys gardening, shopping, and trying new foods.

"The things I appreciate are the friendships I have with my housemates and being able to spend time outdoors," Glenn said.

Glenn's ideal housemate is someone quiet, respectful, who likes the occasional chat.

Meet Julian

Julian enjoys the combination of having both personal and communal spaces in his home. He is proud of his collection of model boats and ships, which he has on display in his room.

Julian enjoys sailing, shopping, and attending fairs and fetes. He also likes taking trips with his support staff, including boat trips up the Yarra River.

Julian is looking for a housemate who loves boats, enjoys chatting, and is caring and sharing.
