Join Life Without Barriers at a range of events happening across Australia in June.

This month, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

New South Wales

ACWA National Conference

The Association of Children's Welfare Agencies (ACWA) National Conference, which is held every two years, marks a significant coming together of child and family welfare experts, caseworkers, sector leaders and child protection advocates to examine policies and practices that are making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families, and to identify ways we can do better.

Life Without Barriers is delighted to share gold sponsorship of the conference with SNAICC - National Voice for our Children. Our team members are presenting across several abstracts in the conference program, which incorporates a stimulating mix of presentations, panel discussions and masterclasses, supported by a dynamic line up of international and local speakers.

Young People's Employment Pathways (YPEP) Webinar

Join our free information session to learn about employment pathways for young people with disability aged 15 and above!

Employment Pathways Coach Eduardo will chat about practical ways to explore different careers options and industries, enhance your skills and capacity, and work towards your employment goals. This includes the unique way we deliver NDIS Supports.

Key highlights of the session:

  • Learn about the diverse options for school leavers.

  • Gain valuable information to make informed decisions about your post-school pathways.

  • Hear stories about young people who have successfully gone on to secure jobs or further training opportunities.

This free online event is open to students, parents, carers, support providers, and teachers.

Foster care for children with complex needs Information Webinar

Across New South Wales, we urgently need new foster carers willing and able to offer long-term, stable, nurturing homes for children or teenagers with complex needs who are unable to live safely with their families.

If you're interested in sharing your home, heart, and time with a child or young person in need, please attend our free information session to learn what it's like to become a foster carer in New South Wales and whether it's the right fit for you.

We will cover the different types of complex needs, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. Our experienced team will talk you through the process and answer any specific questions you have - no matter how big or small!

Queensland

Valley Fest

The Lockyer Valley is hosting Valley Fest in collaboration with local stakeholders and community groups to showcase and celebrate the region.

All are welcome to join this inclusive celebration, with an array of free activities and entertainment including live local music and dance performances, cultural displays, tourism information, food and beverage tastings, art and craft stalls, food vans, interactive games for all ages, hourly giveaways, and much more.

Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

Cuppa in the Communi-tea

This free, accessible, and inclusive event connects residents with different service providers in the local community and council departments and offers technology support, free Wi-Fi, and the chance to borrow some books from the Mobile Library Van.

Drop in, have a cuppa, and chat with the Life Without Barriers team. Our friendly staff and foster carers will be happy to share information and insights into what it's like to be a foster carer in Queensland and answer any questions you might have.

Lowood Show

Come down and chat with Life Without Barriers at the Lowood Show!

This is a great event for the whole family, with horse events, the ute show, wood chopping, lawnmower races, sideshow alley and much more!

Our friendly staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

Doing School Differently Conference

The AAFIE Doing School Differently conference is the pre-eminent Australian conference for all educators, youth workers, researchers, policy makers and young people who are committed to developing and sustaining successful educational opportunities and pathways for young people who have experienced barriers to education.

Life Without Barriers is a proud sponsor of this year's conference, held in Meanjin (Brisbane). Dale Murray, Executive Director of Education at Life Without Barriers, will MC the event in his role as AAFIE Co-Board Chair and take part in a panel discussion about inclusion.

Foster Care Information Webinar
