This month, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

Queensland

Hervey Bay Over 50's Lifestyle Expo

The Hervey Bay Over 50’s Lifestyle Expo is turning 21!

Come join the party and connect with over 80 exhibitors who will be showcasing everything from accommodation, travel, legal, activities, care services, medical, mobility, technology – and more!

We will have a stall at the event, sharing information about our aged care services, at Life Without Barriers. Our friendly staff will be available to answer your questions and can provide you with important advice specific to your needs and help guide you on your journey.

Mackay Seniors Expo

The Mackay Seniors Expo will have more than 80 exhibitors sharing information about the facilities and the services they provide to make a real difference in seniors’ quality of life and connection to the community.

This event forms part of the Queensland Government’s state-wide Seniors Month celebrations which aim to improve community attitudes towards older people, facilitate community participation and activity by older people, and enhance community connections and inter-generational relationships.

We will have a stall at the event, sharing information about our aged care services, at Life Without Barriers. Our friendly staff will be available to answer your questions and can provide you with important advice specific to your needs and help guide you on your journey.

Gold Coast Seniors Health and Lifestyle Expo

The Gold Coast Seniors Health and Lifestyle Expo brings together a range of community services, businesses and organisations from the aged care industry.

Learn about retirement living options, in-home care, seniors travel, seniors insurance, financial planning, investment advice, free hearing and eyesight checks, mobility aids and more!

We will have a stall at the event, sharing information about our aged care services, at Life Without Barriers. Our friendly staff will be available to answer your questions and can provide you with important advice specific to your needs and help guide you on your journey.

Cuppa in the Communi-tea

This free, accessible, and inclusive event connects residents with different service providers in the local community and council departments and offers technology support, free Wi-Fi, and the chance to borrow some books from the Mobile Library Van.

Drop in, have a cuppa, and chat with the Life Without Barriers team. Our friendly staff and foster carers will be happy to share information and insights into what it's like to be a foster carer in Queensland and answer any questions you might have.

South Australia

Port Pirie Foster Care Information Session

If you're interested in sharing your home, heart and time with a child or young person in need, please join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. Our experienced team and a local foster carer will talk you through the process and answer any questions you have - no matter how big or small!

Leaving Care Expo

Hosted by CREATE Foundation in partnership with Key Assets, the Leaving Care Expo for young people with a care experience aged 15-25 is designed to empower young people with tools and information to help with the transition from out-of-home care to independence.

This free expo will be a one-stop-shop for workshops, networking and connecting with services across job skills, education, mental health, finance and more – all focused on young people transitioning from care.

Life Without Barriers' Living Arts team will be hosting a stall on the day with their 'Hidden Conversations, Giant Flowers' project to gather stories and hopes from young people about their journey towards leaving care.

Foster Care Information Webinar

Join our free information session to learn about employment pathways for young people with disability aged 15 and above!

Our Employment Pathways Coaches will chat about practical ways to explore different careers options and industries, enhance your skills and capacity, and work towards your employment goals. This includes the unique way we deliver NDIS School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES).

Key highlights of the session:

  • Learn about the diverse options for school leavers.

  • Gain valuable information to make informed decisions about your post-school pathways.

  • Hear stories about young people who have successfully gone on to secure jobs or further training opportunities.

This free online event is open to students, parents, carers, support providers, and teachers.

Employment Pathways School Holiday Program

Boost your career skills over the school holidays. Don't miss out on our exclusive School Holidays Employment Pathways Program for young people with disability aged 15-24.
