On August 7, we celebrated Aged Care Employee Day and paid tribute to the dedicated teams who light up the lives of our cherished elderly citizens.
Brendan Smith, Aged Care Executive Lead of Life Without Barriers, thanked the aged care employees who form the backbone of this national service.
"I would like to extend a huge thank you to every single one of our Aged Care workers," Brendan said.
"This includes all of our frontline staff such as our Support Workers and Registered Nurses, but also everyone who helps to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
"Everyone in our team - from those in admin, tech, practice support, rostering, leadership and other business partners - you all contribute to making what we do possible.
"The feedback from the people we support shows that your hard work is being recognised by many people across the country, not only by us."
"I encourage everyone to pass on a big thank you to your Aged Care colleagues today!"
As we reflect on our journey, we are proud to share the milestones that define our impact:
We now assist over 5,000 people across 7 core aged care programs.
88.8% of the people we support say they are always treated with dignity and respect.
85% of the people we support would recommend Life Without Barriers as an Aged Care service provider.
We employ more than 500 aged care staff. We have grown our staff count by 9.5% in the last 12 months and continue striving to bring more brilliant people into our team.
We asked some of our Aged Care Support Workers why they love what they do. Here is what they said.
"I love being an aged care support worker because we have such an important impact on the community and help families stay together for as long as we can."
"I love connecting with new people every day, as well as catching up with regulars! Everybody has a unique story and experience to share."
"I love seeing the smiles when I arrive at someone's home. It’s a fantastic job knowing you are making a difference to someone’s quality of life."
"The satisfaction of doing something worthwhile and purposeful."
"It’s coming home content after sharing stories and giggles with my clients who offer me trust and kindness that makes my job so worth it."
To celebrate the day, we also shared two great stories from the Aged Care team.
Barry's bowling resurgence, guided by Monique
Life's pleasures are meant to be savoured, and Support Worker Monique understands this profoundly. She's the ray of sunshine in Barry's life, rekindling his love for life's simple joys. Together, they've embarked on a heartening journey to rediscover Barry's favourite pastimes.
