NRW 2023 is a time to acknowledge past wrongs and reflect on how we can individually and collectively take steps towards achieving Reconciliation in Australia.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), is an invitation to learn about and acknowledge the true history of our nation and explore the actions you can take to contribute towards achieving Reconciliation in Australia.
At Life Without Barriers, we believe that Reconciliation must live in the hearts and minds of all Australians.
As a collective, it is imperative that we acknowledge the true history of our nation, and the damaging effects colonisation continues to have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in order to pave the way forward for a better future.
This year’s theme, ‘Be a Voice for Generations’, is a call to action to tackle the unfinished business of Reconciliation.
Past generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have fought hard to pave the way, and this year, as we approach the referendum for a Voice to Parliament, Australians have an opportunity to be a voice for Reconciliation and use their vote to build a better Nation for all.

Our commitment to Reconciliation
Life Without Barriers is firmly committed to an ongoing journey towards Truth Telling, Self Determination and Reconciliation.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this country and acknowledge their connection to land, water and community. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures and customs and to their Elders past, present and emerging.
We believe in recognising, respecting, and advancing the inherent rights, cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. Life Without Barriers supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart in its entirety and extends our support for a First Nations Voice to be enshrined in the Constitution.
Life Without Barriers also acknowledges the importance of family, cultural and community ties for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are distressingly overrepresented in the out-of-home care system in Australia, and we are committed to Closing the Gap.
Through our Transformation project, we will contribute towards reducing the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by working in partnership with SNAICC- National Voice for our Children (SNAICC) and other Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children can grow in culture and with kin.
