Employment opportunities in our workplace

We actively promote job opportunities for people with disability within our organisation.

Our workplaces and communities benefit from the unique skills, perspectives, innovative problem-solving capabilities and experience people with disability bring to the workplace and organisations can benefit from their significant contribution to increased workforce productivity.

Life Without Barriers’ 2022-2025 Access Inclusion and Employment Plan outlines our commitments to improving access and creating employment without barriers for people with disability. Central to our plan is for 15% of our workforce to identify as having disability in the next three years. On the page, learn more about how we measure our progress and impact and our partnerships.

All Australians with disability have the right to wage equity, economic security and a fulfilling career.

Real Stories

I felt truly accepted for the first time in a workplace.
Dwayne, Assistant Financial Accountant

“I was excited when I saw an opportunity calling for an Accounting Intern at Life Without Barriers. I was supported to go slowly and felt no pressure. I required minimal workplace adjustments and quickly demonstrated confidence in my work.

I felt truly accepted for the first time in a workplace.

I strongly encourage all organisations to look past the disability and see the talented, brilliant individual underneath. There is so much untapped talent and insight you may be missing out on.”

Real Stories

I don’t just like animals, I love them. I'm a big animal person. I'm trying to get into conservation work and look after reptiles. A lot of people are scared of snakes, but not me.
Alex, Young People’s Employment Pathways participant.

After leaving school, Alex and his mother attended a Disability Expo. They connected with Life Without Barriers and Eduardo, who is now Alex’s Employment Pathways Coach.

Alex is an animal lover, and his goal is to work with animals.

Alex is working towards starting a Certificate III in Animal Studies at TAFE. Alex has also been applying for work experience in pet shops and dog grooming salons with the support of Eduardo.
