Searching for a home care service that puts you at the centre of your care? You’re in the right place. At Life Without Barriers, we support you to live life as you like it.

Do I need in-home aged care?

Aged care. Saying it out loud can be confronting, but it doesn’t have to be. What if we told you that getting support at home can help you stay living independently – your way. And you don’t have to wait until everything becomes too hard. In fact, reaching out for help is not the end, it’s only the beginning!

There are many reasons why you may have found yourself here:

  • You might be finding it harder to stay on top of the cleaning and other household tasks.

  • Maybe your garden is getting away from you and taking on a life of its own.

  • You could need some help getting out and about – whether that’s running errands or staying connected to your community.

  • Your mobility may be declining, and you need help with showers and other aspects of your personal care.

  • Your family may be worried about how you are coping on your own.

  • Your neighbour told you about their home care package and you’re curious if you might be eligible too.

  • You’re already receiving home care services but wondering if you could be getting better care and service.

At Life Without Barriers, our purpose is to partner with people to change lives for the better. For those looking for home care support, that means we’re dedicated to helping you live life your way, with care designed for your unique needs.

How does it work?

The aged care system can be a bit tricky to navigate, but we’re here to help you every step of the way. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been approved to receive government-funded aged care services and looking for a provider, we can help.

  • Step 1

You, or your family member, has decided you would like a little extra support at home.

  • Step 2

Contact the Australian Government’s My Aged Care (or Department of Veterans' Affairs for VHC) to check your eligibility and organise an assessment.

  • Step 3

They’ll assess your needs and determine the support you need and level of funding you’re eligible for.

  • Step 4

You’ll receive a letter with the outcome of your assessment. This will include your unique referral codes you’ll need to share with us.

  • Step 5

Call our friendly team on 1800 792 359 to discuss the services you require.

  • Step 6

If you’re ready to start services, one of our friendly and experienced care coordinators will get in touch to develop a custom care plan.

What else do I need to know?

To help you get the care you need, there’s a few important things to know when applying for aged care services through My Aged Care.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for government-funded aged care services you need to be 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). Other eligibility factors are based on your health, how you’re managing at home, and any support you currently receive. These areas are explored in your assessment.

Will I receive care straight away?

You may not receive care straight away, as you may be put on a waiting list with My Aged Care. The length you’ll wait for care will depend on the funding you are approved for. Once you’re assessed and approved, My Aged Care will keep you updated on availability.

What do I need to pay?

What you need to pay varies from person to person. For some aged care services, you may need to complete an income or means (income and assets) assessment. For others, you will need to pay a client contribution for each service. Read more about aged care costs.

Can I switch to Life Without Barriers from another service provider?
